<hi style=afpcap>The Aero Commander has been sold to civilian owners all over the world, with the US Air Force and Army ordering a small number. The Air Force obtained one with the designation YL-26A while the Army received three YL-26s for service evaluation. This was followed by 13 L-26Bs in 1955 for the Air Force and two L-26Cs which were supplied for Presidential use. The Army ordered four L-26Cs in 1956, followed by a pair of RL-26Ds the following year. In 1962 these designations were changed from Liaison to Utility, with the Air Force L-26A and B models becoming the U-4A and B, while the Army YL-26, L-26C and RL-26D became the U-9B, U-9C and RU-9D.</hi>
